Unveiled in April 2025, Costco Warehouse Ardeer marks a significant milestone as Melbourne's flagship large-format retailer in the city's western suburbs. This particular store opening was greatly anticipated by the community, with social media and news reports broadcasting footage of customers lining up from 6am on launch day. The Ardeer complex was designed to replace the recently closed Docklands store, expanding on Costco's signature warehouse experience with a significantly larger floor area of 16,000sqm, a modern fuel station and 760 car parking spaces. The scale and complexity of this project demanded a lighting supplier capable of coordinating with international stakeholders while maintaining flexibility throughout the build process.

Client Objectives

Amphis worked closely with Costco's team to meet several critical requirements:

• Collaborate with US-based LSI Corp to ensure consistency with global Costco standards.
• Adapt to mid-project specifications when aisle lighting was upgraded from 150W to brighter 200W fittings following feedback from the US team.
• Navigate delays caused by winter weather impacts on initial site foundations.
• Adjust delivery schedules as the project timeline shifted from November 2024 to April 2025.
